It wasn't on Google maps last year, nor the new $14 million Wyoming Welcome Center. It still isn't on Google maps this year, so I switched editing to OSM. Thanks to OSM's new html5 java iD online editor, I am mapping my city and state. Forget Google. There is no one there to complain to. They bought all the phone book data from AT&T and half local stores don't use standard phone lines anymore, so half the business don't show.

My nodes, lines and polygons with data appear the next day on Mapquest and OSM. Crowdsourceing works in this poorly mapped part of the U.S.

Re: Fun Infographic – Wordle of 100 Twitter Geo Influencers

Super cool Glenn, thanks for posting these. The code for every light is unique. We can pick up these signals using the existing cameras on any smartphone. A database stores the location of each light, along with its corresponding identifier. So when a mobile device moves underneath a light, we pick up the ID, look up its position, and then infer the position of the mobile device. More lights leads to more accuracy through triangulation.

Dan Ryan
@myDanRyan
@ByteLight

Re: Esri Acquires Portland, Oregon Start-up Geoloqi to Create new Portland R&D Center

maybe this is part of a broader strategy to get R&D centers in all the hip geo-towns.
